✅ Description:
Zolivox™ contains Linezolid, a synthetic antibacterial agent belonging to the oxazolidinone class. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria, including resistant strains. Linezolid inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing formation of the functional 70S initiation complex.
- Bacteriostatic against enterococci and staphylococci
- Bactericidal against most streptococci

✔️ Dosage & Administration
Adults & Adolescents:
- 600 mg IV or orally every 12 hours
Pediatric Patients:
- 10 mg/kg every 8 hours (IV or oral)
Uncomplicated Skin Infections:
- Adults: 400 mg orally every 12 hours
- Children:
- <5 years: 10 mg/kg every 8 hours
- 5–11 years: 10 mg/kg every 12 hours
Duration of Treatment:
- Pneumonia & complicated infections: 10–14 days
- VRE infections: 14–28 days

Most adverse effects are mild to moderate. Common ones include:
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Nausea
Other possible effects:
- Oral or vaginal fungal infections
- Hypertension
- Dyspepsia, abdominal pain
- Itching (pruritus)

- Hypersensitivity to linezolid or any formulation component
- Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (e.g., phenelzine, isocarboxazid) or within 2 weeks of such therapy
- Patients with:
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Pheochromocytoma
- Thyrotoxicosis
- Carcinoid syndrome
- Concomitant use with:
- Sympathomimetics (e.g., pseudoephedrine)
- Vasopressors (e.g., epinephrine)
- Dopaminergic agents
- SSRIs, TCAs, triptans, buspirone, or meperidine

- Monitor for serotonin syndrome when used with serotonergic drugs
- Patients with unexplained metabolic acidosis, nausea, or vomiting require urgent evaluation
- Visual disturbances (blurred vision, color vision changes) require ophthalmic assessment
- Seizures have been reported—use caution in patients with a seizure history
